Man Accused of Weekend Murder in Los Banos Arrested

LOS BANOS (FOX26) — Police say they have arrested a man accused of killing a man early Sunday morning in Los Banos.

At 12:42 on Sunday morning, Los Banos Police Officers were called out to the area of 6th and I Streets for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found 37-year-old Jose Raul Nolasco laying behind Bank of America suffering from a gunshot wound.

Nolasco was rushed to Memorial Hospital Los Banos and later died in a Modesto area hospital.

After examining evidence, detectives were able to identify 46-year-old Juan Luis Gonzalez Torres as the alleged shooter.

A Merced County Sheriff's Office deputy spotted Torres' car on Wednesday morning in a hotel parking lot in Santa Nella.

Authorities say that Torres had been on the run since the shooting and was getting ready to leave the area when he was spotted.

Torres' car was pulled over as he was entering the 1-5 from Highway 33.

He was taken into custody and booked into jail on a homicide charge.
