DoorDash Driver Killed in Head-On Crash in Los Banos; Investigation Ongoing

A 34-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision Saturday morning in Los Banos while working as a DoorDash delivery driver, according to local authorities and family members.

The victim has been identified as Michael Qualls, 34. The crash occurred at the intersection of Santa Barbara Drive and Linwood Court after a 911 call was received at approximately 8:10 a.m. reporting a two-vehicle collision.

According to the Los Banos Police Department, the incident involved a head-on crash between two vehicles. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures at the scene; however, Qualls was pronounced dead.

Family members told reporters that Qualls was actively delivering DoorDash orders at the time of the crash.

Preliminary information from investigators indicates that speed may have been a contributing factor. A nearby witness reported seeing one of the vehicles traveling at an estimated 50 to 60 miles per hour in the residential area prior to the collision.

Police officials stated that no signs of intoxication were observed at the scene, and as of now, no arrests have been made. The crash remains under active investigation, and authorities have not confirmed whether criminal charges will be filed pending further findings.

Neighbors in the area described Santa Barbara Drive as a roadway where speeding is a recurring concern, though officials have not formally identified the cause of the crash.

A memorial has since been placed near the intersection where the collision occurred.

Family members have also established a fundraiser to assist with funeral expenses. However, as of publication, a verified public link to the fundraiser has not been officially released in confirmed reports.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
